can different ram work together?

wiil DDR3-1600/PC3-12800 ram DDR3-1333/PC3-10600 ram can i used both because is have 8 gigs o f ddr3 -1333 and i want to upgrade to 16 giigabyte

Not a good idea to mix sticks, especially of different freqs, brands, voltages, etc....if you have the sticks I'd say try em, wouldn't suggest buying to try though
