Well it seems that the problem with my system (topic) may be PSU related.

The question is what to replace it with. Same again? A different expensive PSU or a budget PSU?

On the one hand a direct replacement is the easiest option, being (partly) modular I could leave cables in place and just swap the box.

On the other hand if it really is the PSU thats faulty then I'm somewhat disapointed that an expensive PSU with excess power (which recieved good reviews at the time) hasn't lasted any longer than I've come to expect from cheap no-name PSU with just enough power costing a fraction of the price.

So, have I just been unlucky with this particular unit? Or am I better off buying something cheaper and spending what I save on beer?

I think this is enough and really good quality and reliability.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately I don't think its available here in the UK (sorry, forgot to say where I am).

Still interested on anyone's thoughts on whether I've been unlucky with this particular enermax or not. Is it reasonable for me to have expected an expensive PSU to last longer? If not then what benefit is there to an expensive one?

Yes I would assume an expensive power supply sustainable for much longer time.

Thanks, I'll do some shopping around for those if I need to. However I might not have to - I've just found out that Enermax extended the warranty period on the revolutions from 3 to 5 years (included units sold before the extension). Looks like this is going to be cheaper than I thought.
