I'm going to be using my monitor for playing games, playing my PS3/WiiU (going to use the HDMI ports), recording gameplay on my computer as I play on the other input, and not sure what monitor would be best for my needs. I don't mind switching out inputs if I need to and also is HDMI better or DVI better for PC?

that acer monitor which you listed is not IPS monitor , the best choice for gaming now , is the IPS monitors

Ah can you sum up the different between an IPS monitor and a normal one?

An IPS monitor gives better color reproduction and has 178 degree viewing angles (meaning you can look at the screen from the side and the picture doesn't darken or brighten like it would on a normal, TN monitor). The downside is that IPS technology currently limits IPS monitors to 60Hz refresh rate, while TN monitors can reach up to 144Hz. Now, you need the GPU horsepower to get there, but if you DO get there, then you're rewarded with almost *zero* motion blur.

However, once you see images or play games on an IPS monitor, it's hard to go back to a TN. IPS is the future of monitor technology, just like how TN phased out CRT monitors.

Finally, there is no difference between HDMI and DVI in terms of image quality. HDMI just lets you pass audio through your GPU output so that if your monitor has built-in speakers, you can play sound through them without needing to connect a secondary audio cable.

IPS monitors have allot better colour reproduction/accuracy, blacks, and viewing angles. (as you may well know)
So will be more pleasant to look at overall and better for watching films.

LED/TN monitors have not as good blacks or colour accuracy and poor viewing angles but have allot better input lag and response time which while playing games is better ( but it's not that much , you'll not gonna notice the difference at all ) because the moving image will not blur or ghost as much and the input lag time from you moving your mouse to what you seen on screen will be noticeable (depending on you)

So as you dont do proffesional image work or anything liek that I spose it depends on how much you game....

If you dont game much you may be better off with a IPS.
But if you game often and are usually sitting directly infront of your monitor you will be better off with a TN/LED

most people are using IPS monitor nowadays .

IPS color accuracy and depth kills TN, but TN is usually a bit quicker with less ghosting
