I have a M4AB9GTD PRO motherboard and was given an AMD FX 8350 processor which is a huge improvement over my old amd. My question is, will this motherboard bottle neck? Of even run this processor at all?
That CPU is not compatible with that motherboard. A motherboard doesn't necessarily bottleneck a CPU, it tends to be a GPU which will bottleneck or vice versa. However if it is an old motherboard you may have problems with overclocking due to older VRM design and cooling solution.
Thank you for the reply. I am
Not interested in overclocking, just to run games with some good graphics and stability. Even though its not compatible, it will work it it's full potential your saying?
You're guess is as good as anyone's as to how it will function. Some 890GX AM3 motherboards will run an FX chip even though they officially require an AM3+ motherboard. Yours is a 140W motherboard, so its not going to hurt to drop it in and try.
