Some sources I've been reading say that you can get mobo's on UEFI to work with ubuntu 12.04
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UEFI
http://askubuntu.com/questions/229915/uefi-or-efi-is-possible-install-ubuntu-12-04-in-uefi-efi-boot-mode

So, I don't think that would be an issue.

My (new) MSI Z77A-gd55 advertises itself as an UEFI motherboard; BIOS v_1.2 and -- tho visually different -- presented/requested no mumbo-jumbo other than the usual BIOS rap. Recently while testing the build, I've installed half-a-dozen *nixes including RHAT & SUSE ... and the current U_12.04.x ... without any particular concern for whatever a UEFI bios is supposed to require. In general OS/HW stuff just worked.

My impressions was you must formally **turn on** the UEFI function(s) from BIOS. Mebby that's just the MSI implementation, but anyrate my experience is UEFI-labled does **not** by itself preclude Linux.
