I have a GTX 680 and I would like to use it with Nvidia surround can I use one 24" Monitor and two 23" Monitors? Or is there anyother tweaks that will enable me to do this?

2x http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-VS239H-P-23-Inch-Full-HD-Mon...

1x http://www.amazon.com/VG248QE-24-Inch-Screen-LED-lit-Mo...

Also what would be your opinion on getting one 144hz monitor or 3 60hz monitors. Is surround really worth it or is it just a dumb gimmick? I mostly play FPS games such as Bo2, Battlefield, Arma 3, and other games such as Minecraft every so often.

I already have a 60hz Asus VS39H.

Surround will definitely give you a much more immersive gaming experience, and paired with the right audio, monitors, and GPUs it can feel like you're in the game. As for your questions:
1. The monitors don't have to be the same make or resolution, but they must be the same refresh rate.
2. 3 60Hz monitors will give you just that, 3 60Hz monitors. You'll see 60Hz max and nothing less. A 144Hz/120Hz monitor can give you a excellent buttery-smooth gaming experience -- that is, if you can push 120 or 140 fps out of your system.
3. Your GTX 680 can handle surround but for 3 monitors I doubt you'll get better than 30-40 fps on most games. If you're planning on doing multi-monitor gaming you should get yourself an SLI setup (2x GTX 680s should do nicely for 3 monitor surround).
