In normal residential internet service wiring....is there any difference it the coaxial cables run by Cox Cable (or others) vs Direct TV ? Does either or both use a different type of cabling than normal cat5 or whatever (cat) is commonly used today ?

My new homes has both Cox and Direct TV cabling....if I switch from Cox current provider) to Direct TV...is it necessary to run a 3rd bunch of cables in the house

The coax cable in the house is all the same. RG6. (cat5 is for ethernet)
Generally, there would be a splitter box (cable) or a DirecTV signal converter on the side of the house. That feeds into whatever coax already exists.
