Gigabyte GA-X79-UP4 versus ASUS P9X79 PRO

So I am not an expert, but it seems tht the Gigabyte is superior...

They have more or less the same specs, both max 64GB DDR3, etc. But then the Gigabyte is slightly better at some things... examples:

PCI Express 3.0 x16 --- is 4 vs 3
SATA 6Gb/s --- 6 vs 4

So at a cost of ~240 (Gigabyte) vs ~310 (ASUS), what am I missing? Is it just a brand name thing, with Asus being the premiere brand (from what I can remember)?

Think it looks good so far, the one real advantage I've seen for the Asus is it handles DRAM much better which is more a BIOS thing, only suggestion I'd have on the part list would be to suggest the GSkill Snipers as the DRAM,

have used both and if you ever decide to OC the Snipers are much stronger, with more headroom, so also stronger at stock
