Intel Core i5-3570 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor

Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H ATX LGA1155 Motherboard

Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

Corsair Force 60GB 2.5" Solid State Disk

Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

2x Gigabyte GeForce GTX 760 2GB Video Card (2-Way SLI)

TX650w Corsair PSU

So, I asked somebody over on Reddit to help me put together a PC for gaming with a budget of $1000. This is what we wound up coming up with.

I know the bare basics when it comes to computers, and am completely lost when it comes to things like Motherboards. Can I get some criticism/suggestions on how you would improve this build?

PS. SLI is not a must, but is hopefully a method to future proof the machine.

I have the same motherboard, and I would definitely recommend it. Works perfect! If you want to overclock (speed up hardware clock beyond stock), get the "K" version of the 3570 (3570K can OC, 3570 can't). Also, a 650W PSU seems rather weak for SLI 760's AND 2 hard drives.

So my changes would be: Better PSU, and "K" version of CPU (if you want to OC).

That SLI need around 1000W PSU to work, that is the first problem. A single GTX 760 is powerful enough to handle most games at highest setting. If 760 is not enough, get an OCed 770. If you how to or plan to OC, get 3570k. 60GB of SSD is not enough to carry games along with your OS, get a 128 GB, or even 256 GB for future proof.

So, get a better SSD

Never mind about the SLI, just get a better single card. SLI does not excatly double your performance, more like adding 85%. Not all game support SLI, so think twice about what you buy. Coming along with SLI is the heat problem. Make sure your PC have good cooling. Try GTX 770, should be enough to single monitor games.

If you don't mind switch to AMD, try HD 7970. Three free games coming along with it!

Switch to 3570k if you want to OC.

Your motherboard is alright, but I found a better one on sale.

You are pretty much future proofed for a while with this. I can't find other problems.
