I own a Toshiba Satellite A665-S5186, and I am getting mixed messages on what CPU's are compatible with it.

CPU-z Registers the socket type as 989 rPGA.

Is there any possibility to put an i7 in this machine?

No matter where I search I cannot seem to get an exact answer, so my last resort is forums/msg boards.

I know the i5 is an adequate processor, but I'm looking to get better performance Graphics wise, as the Intel HD Graphics is sufficient, I'm looking for more performance. I've heard many great things about the 4k series of the Intel HD graphics. And that's what I'm looking for.

With a laptop you're stuck with what you have in the processor department. There's a few crazy DIY's out there for laptops and discrete graphics cards but that's probably the best you can do

Umm. No. It has an rPGA socket, which means it is in fact NOT soldered to the board making it possible to upgrade.
