Is it possible to use 2 graphics cards and assign the more powerful one solely to Gaming (Steam stuff like Bioshock), and the less powerful to generic use (internet, videos etc)? They are both AMD cards (Powerful one: Radeon HD 7870, less powerful: Radeon HD 7750.) I was just wondering if this is possible and would be stable?
Thanks
Alex

I think it can't be done. You can apply this method to a Laptop not on a desktop.

Well it's a desktop I'm trying to do it on... I've heard of it being done. I just need to know if I can do it or not and if so, how?

As I said earlier, and best to my knowledge "It can't be done". I think you didn't follow my previous post.

I have to ask why? The more powerful card should do fine for both.

Just wanted to keep the powerful one as free up as possible, it's a shame crossfire doesn't work with them both to be honest.

Yes crossfire wouldn't work for sure, cause the GPU's don't match. You need a pair of same GPU's to crossfire.

As Lonewolf7 said you would need the exact same GPUs. However there is a way to have both of them run at the same time. MSI had a motherboard about 1-3 years ago (I don't know where you could buy it) That would allow you to pair any card with an NVIDIA card. The only problem is that it was a bit buggy. It didn't always dedicate the NVIDIA card as the PhysX Engine and it sometimes overheated with out proper cooling. There are a few hacked drivers out there that will allow you to trick the NVIDIA card into thinking that it's connected to a display (that's if you're using one display). Otherwise if you are using two the only thing you have to worry about is the drivers interacting badly and overheating.

Hope I helped!! Thanks! :bounce:
