Hi guys, lets get the system specs out of the way:
Well (ab)used 6 year old system
GIGABYTE GA-EP45-DS3R LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard
Q9550
X2 WD VelociRaptor WD1500HLFS 150GB 10000 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5"
X1 (faulty) DVD/CD drive
8 gigs G.SKILL PI Black 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
Antec BP550 Plus 550W Continuous Power ATX12V V2.2 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible
I can get it to 3.2ghz no problems at 3.4 it would not post half the time multiple beeps, I tried upping the voltage incrimentally up to 1.3v and that didnt help.
At 3.6ghz it will never post, just constant short beeps after restarting.
I unplugged the DVD drive and some fans, boots just fine at 3.6 ghz and stock/auto voltage just fine.
Is my PSU shitting the bed? Looking at monitoring software, RAM and CPU voltage appear to be stable but 12v is not very stable at all.
