using a server to play games

I want to know if you can build a server and use it to play games similar to onlive (but it wouldn't be running hundreds of games at a time so it would look better)use some kind of Ethernet cable or similar to connect to a PC sending the data and would it be possible to have multiple instances running(around 4-7) and have them playing in a LAN game while having 1 mouse and keyboard controlling 1 instance and etc. also if you have 2 or 3 CPUs could you have them all work on 1 thing like a strategy game where the computer has to calculate the AI, could you do the same with GPUs?

Servers tend to be heavy on the CPU and not so great on the GPU since they're not really used for gaming. You might have a problem playing games on a dedicated server machine.
