Last response: in Motherboards

I have a working Dell Inspiron that I don't use anymore (replaced by a Raspberry Pi).
A family member has an old desktop running XP that is pretty slow now.
Would it be possible to use the motherboard from the laptop and install it in the old desktop?
How can I clone the hard drive of the desktop to put on the hard drive of the laptop?

Laptop motherboards do not use a standard form factor like desktops do, they vary from laptop to laptop. You can't put them in a desktop case.
