1. You Can Use The Thermal Paste That Comes W/ The CPU Cooler. Almost all Thermal Paste are the same but if Artic Silver makes you happy...
2. Id Recommend A Gigabyte Motherboard
3. Get An Intel Processor( Something like Intel i5 4670 ) or Intel i5 4670K if you plan to overclock
4. Id recommend this video card but your choice

rest is up to you

Then use AMD, it just depends on what you want. We can't force you to get Intel because we think its better.

kk. well i was asking ps3hacker about a few monitor recommendations.

I respect your opinion, but it is a fact that intel's are better in gaming. However Amd would be better for you if you did a LOT of multitasking or video encoding/editing. And by a LOT of multitasking I mean a lot of multitasking.

ok, well lets not fight now. and i do more than game on pc. i edit, code, etc. But if you could recommend a cheap intel that could run everygame around 60 fps with fraps recording i may get an intel. And thanks loc for the monitor link,

Hm, if you doing more than gaming than the 6100 isn't a bad choice. the gpu is way more important than the cpu in most games. an i5 is a sweetspot for price/performance. but if your only going to spend around 100 for a cpu a 6100 has a slight edge over an i3 which cost about he same.

Could anyone recommend a $700 ish intel gaming PC with windows 8? that runs almost all games new and old (and games like BF4, COD:Ghosts) than i would probably switch over to intel from AMD.

currently intel are MILES ahead of AMD as far as performance per watt and single thread performance goes, heres a bench comparing the two:

Games are more graphics card dependant. But the cpu does still make a difference. BF4 hasn't came out yet and it's part of the next gen of games. And if you want to make a machine that can max games like that your going to need more than 700 dollars weather you're using AMD or Intel.

I would suggest this monitor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Its a IPS monitor for $149 right now...that's a steal! 5ms response times most likely wont result in ghosting and 60 Hz is fine for most people. IPS actually looks much nicer than TN panels, if you are willing to sacrifice 1 or 2 ms that you probably wont notice...

I'm about to buy a pc myself for 1500 :)
I just get the stuff like Intel i5 4670K and Evga Geforce gtx 760 SC w/ Acx cooling
Since i might overclock if it gets slow which it won't but just being safe.
August 3, 2013 6:48:10 PM

yeah but spending that much for you probably isnt much. almost $1000 in my family is alot. We are kinda poor :/  behind in house bills and such. and ive been saving for a long time.

Lets see you definitely won't be able to max newer games while recording with fraps at 60 fps. Expect more like 50 frames without fraps.

Yeah, It's pretty good for the price. If you plan on SLI though you might want to consider a better motherboard. The pcie slots are pcie 2 16x4. That will bottleneck your cards in SLI.

Also I would still ask you to consider getting an intel i5. It will cost you the same and will get better overall performance. The 8350 only actually 4 core that can run two threads on each core at the same time. But single thread performance is weak, which what games and most other programs (such as video editors) run on. So you would benefit from getting an intel i5. But if you want to get an amd that's fine.
August 3, 2013 7:06:52 PM

whats a good motherboard that isnt very expensive? that will not bottleneck it?

pvtevan99 said:

Well if you going to use SLI down the road with that card you would want something along the lines of a board with PCI-E 3.0 (16x8) I'll check how much those cost. If your not going to use SLI though that board will do okay.

Something like this would be better for SLI http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

On newegg at least, i cant find a "GIGABYTE" mobo that supports AMD+3 and has PCI-E 3.0. I said Gigabyte cuz thats my preferred mobo let me check other brands brb :)
EDIT: I can't seem to find one that support s AMD+3 and has PCI-E 3.0 maybe you have some luck thanksforthefish87?

Well if you want PCI-E 3.0, you got to get an Intel Mobo and an Intel Processor :\

Just found that out looking on newegg though I just recommended this for him though. It has two 16x pcie 2 slots. and then two others at 4x in case he needs extra pcie components.

No as shown above (if you had clicked on my benchmark you would have seen) intel is better than AMD at EVERYTHING at this moment in time.

In most cases.. no. Programs that make use of multithreading it will do better. But I think in programs like video editing and gaming it will actually be slower. Intel Processors have stronger single threaded performance. So it laymens terms

8350: 8 weaker cores
I5: 4 better cores

(this isn't exactly correct though, an 8350 isn't a true 8 core)
August 3, 2013 7:27:23 PM

i went to ps3hacker's link. and the fx-8350 is better than the i5-4670k in almost everything :/  so that bundle isnt better

That one doesn't have PCI-E 3.0 :p

Currently there is no real advantage of buying PCI-E 3.0 over 2.0 as no single setup graphics card can fully saturate the bandwidth of a PCI-E 2.0 x16 lane anyway.

So therefore you would see NO performance increase between PCI-E 3.0 and PCI-E 2.0 if they are both running at x16.

Dude, im not sure if your trolling but the ONLY thing the fx8350 beats the i5 in (very slightly) is in one heavily threaded bench:
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/697?vs=837

which you would expect comparing an 8-core to a 4-core, but in terms of everything else the i5 wins with better performance per clock and power efficiency.
