Hello there.

So I just got my new gtx770 dc2oc and I opened up my pc to check the cables and such to know what to do before I proceed with the install. The 770 needs one 8pin and one 6pin to be connected, my psu which should be an 800w psu of some sort, don't remember the brand or model (no text on it either that tells me what it is) only has one 6pin pci-e connector, but there is a few empty connectors, one 8pin called P8, and a 4 pin HDD.

My question is can get an 8pin cable for this P8 connector and plug it into the card or do I need a new psu? The plan with the rig which i got back in 2010 was going for a powerful processor and upgrading the graphics card later on(now) but I'm not sure what I need to get my new card running now.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

The P8 connector is not for the video card , if you only have one 6 pin Pci-e connector then I am questioning whether or not you have an 800w psu. A 800w PSU would have several 6pin and 8 pin connectors, at this point since you can't identify the PSU I would get a new PSU and be sure what I have. A 650w or 750w would be all that you need.

Here are some PSUs to look at that aren't too expensive. All have rebates.
