reboot and selec proper boot device

I have tried the esc, del,f1,f2 and put my hdd as the first and yet it is still telling to reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and presd a key

Looks like your MBR is broken, you'll need to reinstall windows

What is your best advice please? it is something i can change by myself or is it something i realy need to take to a shop? 9or should just forget about repairing it and get another one?

Did you save those changes before leaving BIOS? Do you have a XP CD you can boot from or is there a CD in the drive at the moment that isn't bootable? That could cause the system to fail to spot your hard disk.

If the Windows MBR is broken and can't "see" or mount your hard disk, a Linux system would probably be able to do both. You could download an OS and run it as a LiveCD and have access to your files. Post back if that sonds interesting.
