I know the specs to the ps4:
-8gb gddr5
-amd 8 core
-7870 radeon

How many fps do you think the ps4 will get. Also, please give your opinion of the PS4 out of 10. Im in a bit of a crisis where I can't decide to save for a ps4 or a gaming computer. Im kind of leaning toward the ps4, because with 3 games and a tv is still $200 less than the pc which is $1200 without any accessories, monitors and stuff like that. Please give me your feedback and opinion.

Well just to be clear, the PS4 has a 1.6 ghz "jaguar" 8 core cpu. And it's not a 7870. It's a custom version of an amd gpu that falls somewhere in between a 7850 and a 7870.
Also I believe the 8gbs of ram is shared between the video card and the rest of the system, but I'm not sure.

It's about a mid ranged computer in terms of specs which is good for 400 bucks if you ask me. But Keep in mind you couldn't upgrade it at all.

Not sure what frames it runs at. It's pretty much just console vs PC. Obviously PC is going to be more expensive, but also much better.

but the games for ps4 are optimized for that specific hardware, where as a computer is it can either be really good or really bad. my setup is really good but also much more expensive. But i am almost 15 and have a dog walking dog, getting $100/month, and my rig without monitors and stuff is 1200, and im not sure how much longer ill be walking the dog because hes pretty old. Heres another question. If i dont get enough money for the pc, will the ps4 still be a really good console? and how good is sony with consoles? I have an xbox 360, how much better will the ps4 be than that?

Eh, if you want a console just pick the one with the games you want to play. I personally think the PS4 looks better than the Xbox One.

ps4 is obviously better than xbox 1. But there are explusive games for both pc and ps4. But with the raw power of pc, and the optimization of the ps4 for the games, the performance is kind of the same. so thats why im having trouble deciding

It's pretty much the opposite. a gaming computer will make a PS4 look like a toy. And both of the new consoles will be using x86 PC architecture, so computers will actually be getting better ports.

well, a computer is as good or as bad as you spend on it. and with a computer you are paying for more than just a gaming device, you also get all the other options of a computer, whereas a console i think is rather limited (although the last console i had was n64, so im not sure exactly what ps4 can do). But regardless you are likely going to be able to a lot more on a computer than a ps4. As far as games being optimized..its not like they "arent optimized" for use on a computer. all the ps4 is is a customized computer with special software. the only time they are not optimized for a computer is in the case of a bad port over from a console, like skyrim, which i heard had a really clunky menu meant for a console. even then the game ran just fine, and you could use mods or a usb xbox controller to get through the clunky menu. speaking of which, you dont really get mods outside of computer games, so that's something to consider

in terms of cost...you could probably take it down a bit from $1200 and still have something that can chop through games. could you post what you had in mind?

unless you have to get it now for some particular reason, then maybe wait and see if you get enough money for the computer, if not head over to the console

ok then, give me an intel gaming setup that could max out any game for around 1100 dollars maybe even 1200, but dont add an ssd to the list, i would add that later

Yeah, agreed that you don't need 1200 to make a computer that can still do good in games. You could probably make a nice machine for 800 ish.

i think you said with no peripherals, and im assuming you need to buy an OS ($90)

i'll start writing, but do you live near something like microcenter? they have some pretty good deals sometimes. that will lower the final price and would be good to know

Eh, that list could definitely be revised, I usually buy stuff on newegg. They usually have good deals. I'm not sure about a 550 watt power supply, it depends on the other components you got with, and what brand is the power supply?

That's definitely do-able. I'll throw together a quick list, maybe a few people on the forums will look through it.

well, i didnt actually end up going that much below $1200. but most of the stuff you could easily drop down and save. if you dont want to overclock you dont need a "K" processor and overclockable motherboard. you could probably drop down to a 660 and still do most everything. through in another 660 later with sli and you could definitely do quite a bit. or if you dont want sli you could drop down the psu from 750 W. can probably also find a cheaper case, i just went with what i knew

regardless, i feel like this would likely outstrip a console by a bit for the most part

I'd recommend a 7850/7870 over a 660. Same price and a little more performance.
