1.1 GHz Intel Celeron 847

How do I overclock a 1.1 GHz Intel Celeron 847? I've got a chromebook. I'm runnint linux on it. But 1.1 GHz can't really run anything. I want to overclock it just a little bit to get it up to about 1.3-1.4GHz. Can I do this?

  1. No
  2. Really? That's weak. There should be some sort of way to get into the BIOS and change it...
  3. And at that, why does a dual core processor run so low?
  4. cause its made for web browsing / light stuff, thats why the cpu is so "low" powered. ( it doesnt need a better one for whats it intended to do )
  5. I understand that, but if you can get linux on it, which is what I'm running, then why can I not overclock it just a little bit?
  6. Because the motherboard will not allow it. OEM systems, especially laptops, do not include such features.
  7. So even if I'm running linux and I get the msr kernel module and get into there and change the settings, overclocking my processor, your saying that it wouldn't work?

Try it! ....Some people say that even Intel Atom processors can be overclocked
