I only intend on playing EVE Online and I don't need very much storage, no idea if 10k spindle, larger cache or SSD would help me.

SSD will always triumph over HDD when it comes to speed especially for gaming and booting up your OS. For most part is most everything large on your storage device SSD is better and faster for. Also like you said you don't need that much space. ;)
