I'm looking to build a gaming desktop to be able to run Total War Rome 2 as best as possible.

Need everything for the computer except for a monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers. I have about $700 to use for the build.

This build can overclock too and should last a very good time before you need an upgrade and 8Gb rams is great you won't need higher anytime soon. and if you wanted to add another 8 gb in the future you can do it very easily but right now there is no need to.

Super useful info. To piggyback, what about building a true budget pc around the recommendations of creative assembly? That is, a pc that will work well for rome II over the next couple years, but isnt pimped out for other games or the very highest ultra settings? maybe a budget of 500 or less, with the goal being to optimize price for performance.

I ask bc i'm not a big pc gamer and i'd rather spend big bucks elsewhere, but i obsessed over Rome I. rome Ii and its eventual mods are luring me back.
