Second monitor is blurry

My second monitor is blurry, my pc is running windows 8, all my drivers are up to date, They are connected using a DVI for my main monitor and a HDMI for my secondary, i know it is not the cable as before i got my second monitor it was running my main one fine.

My GPU is a 7970 and i have a 600W PSU

Either it's a resolution problem or a problem with the monitor setup. Check that you've set the monitor's resolution to its native resolution, then try to "auto adjust" the monitor. If that doesn't work, try to manually adjust its clock and phase through the monitor settings, often that causes a problem.

If i turn it down to 640p then the text looks OK, but i'm 100% sure my screen is 1080p

Is there a sharpness setting? On some monitors, turning it down too low intentionally makes it blurry...
Also, re-check the cable and check that it's plugged in tightly on the GPU and monitor, and try using different types of connections/ cables.

I tried switching them around, same problem, Sharpness is at 50%

If nothing works and you just bought it, it could be faulty. Can you RMA it?

Yes, but the monitor. If it's never worked before and nothing you've tried works, you should send it back if possible.
