Problem: I have recently built my first computer, everything appears to be functioning as far as I know (fans operating, lights showing, etc.) but my monitor is not receiving a signal.

I have gone through the stickied checklist to try and solve it but nothing has worked. I have read similar questions and tried the advice offered there but still no signal. I have tried using my tv as the monitor but no signal was picked up. My monitor is dvi only but I have tried using a dvi/VGA converter but that didnt work. I know the monitor works (hooked my friends laptop to it with the dvi/VGA cable). I am buying another graphics card which will allow me to hook the dvi cable to it but if that doesn't work I am unsure what else to do.

My build:

Case: Zalman Z9 plus atx case

SSD(plan to use for OS): Adata premier pro sp900 asp900s3-64gm SSD

Motherboard: Asrock fm2a85x extreme 6 motherboard

Power Supply: XFX P1-750X-XXb9 psu

CD/DVD Drive: Asus DVD burner DRW24B1ST/black/B/AS

RAM: G. Skills rip jaws x series F3-12800 CL10D-16GBXL 2x8 gb

Processor: AMD A10 5800k quad core with direct x graphic and radeon 7660D AD580KWOHJBOX

Hard Drive: Seagate Barricuda 1TB ST31000524AS hard drive

Graphics Card: EVGA 02G-3658-KR GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost 02G-P4-3658-KR

Monitor: DoubleSight DS-220C

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium Sp1-64 bit-OEM

Have you tried removing some of the ram sticks? I had this same issue last week. We had no idea what was going on but everything would turn on but the screens would not display anything. Come to find out 1 of the ram sticks was damaged and caused the display not to show. Try removing all but 1 stick. Then turn on the pc and if display shows you have faulty ram. Keep trying this process with all ram to find out which one is bad.

The GTX 650 that you listed has DVI outputs on it, does it not? There is no reason to use a VGA converter with this card and your DVI compatible monitor. Since you found that the monitor is working on a different system, the culprit is likely the GPU. Either it's not seated in the PCI slot correctly, the power cable is not connected completely, or it's just a bad card.

I will try removing my ram sticks and try them individually. Also the Gtx 650 does have a dvi slot but I have not recieved this gpu yet. I ordered it yesterday. I was hoping the graphics which came with my processor would work out until the gpu arrived

I have removed my ram sticks and then used each one individually in every memory slot. My monitor is still not receiving a signal. Are there any other things I can try?

I do not have any other monitors on hand but I did try my tv by using an hdmi cable. No luck there unfortunately.

I was hopping it was 1 of the ram sticks was bad. If you are sure everything is turning on then something is bad and causing no video signal.

Could be all ram sticks are bad. Rare but could happen.
Video card try using another one if you have one. If not try the on board video and remove your video card.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I finally figured it out. The problem was that I did not set my heat sink down hard enough on my CPU.
