Net Use Printing

I am trying to print using the net use in command promt the printer is a paralle printer on LPT1. The command promt is opened as an admin. So I put in net use lpt1 \\computername\printer /persistent:yes /user:userid password. It tells me that the command worked but I am still not able to print to the printer it is not on a domain have been trying to get this to work for a couple of days to no success.

Is WPS enabled on the printer? If so, then you need to add it to your router.
