Well, the 7990 is quite a bit more powerful than the 760, if you're gaming across 3 screen the 760 might have some trouble keeping up, while a 7990 would not, the main issue is the AMD crossfire drivers at the moment. the new 13.8 beta drivers are supposed to fix the issues it has, but i don't run xfire, so i can't say, anyone with xfire have any input?

1.) Your Friend does not know what the hell he is talking about.
2.) The 7990 is better then the 690 Performance/Price Wise, 670 is a single GPU Video Card, 7990 and 690 are dual GPU Video Cards.... So back to point #1 your friend does not know what the hell he is talking about.
3.) Intel is better then AMD, Performance Wise. If you are on a tight budget, then AMD is the way to go. But otherwise Intel is better performance wise.

It can play any game maxed out. It can even play nexgen games maxed out as long as they are optimized for dual GPU's. Your technically running CrossfireX with the 7990. Since it is dual GPU's. if your wondering what GPU's the 7990 has, the 7990 runs 2 7970's (Ghz Edition I think).

7990 will keep up with 3 monitors at 1920x1200/1080 no problem. It should even run nexgen games maxed at 1920x1080 with 3 monitors. As long as they are Optimized for CrossfireX/Multiple GPU's.

Also your friend recommended a weaker video card because:
1.) Hes Jealous of the fact that he has a weaker system so hes recommending a video card that underperforms his.
2.) or he doesn't know what the hell he's talking about.

Dual 7990, same as 4x7970 in crossfire(not much gain in performance) and is waste of money,
run eyefinity with crossfire enabled is mean meet doom with your driver,
Current AMD 13.8 beta driver doesn't actually fix that, it only support up to two way crossfire.
