I'm in the process of building a HTPC for my living room, I have most of the components but I'm still unsure about a cpu cooler/heatsink. My case is the Silverstone-GD05 with an ASUS H87M-E motherboard. I'm going with the Intel i5-4570 as my cpu. I'm limited to a 70mm cooler height because I'm using an external Blu-Ray drive. I've narrowed down my selection to these coolers:

- Scythe Big Shuriken 2 Rev.B: http://www.scythe-usa.com/product/cpu/SCBSK2100.html
- Silverstone NT01-Pro: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835220057
- Cooler Master GeminiI M4: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103177
- Cooler Master GeminiI S524: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103100

Anyone have experience with these? I know the CM S524 is technically taller than 70mm, but this ASUS motherboard is somewhat thinner than a typical mATX, and I may be able to squeeze it in there by facing the cooler towards the rear of the case. I won't know unless I install one in there to test. The Microcenter near me has one in stock, I'm going to test if it's feasible and return if not.

your best way is water cooling if you can fit the 120 Radiator to the case .

tell me first , this HTPC , do you care about adding cards ? how many cards do you want to add ?

and second , which CPU did you pick up ?

Edit : have you bought the case yet?

Water cooling would be tough, there's 2 exhaust openings on the back but they only fit 80mm fans.

The only card I'm adding to start with is the Ceton Infinitv 4. I would like to add a standalone GPU in the future.

I picked up the Intel i5-4570.

you have a 120 fan to the right of the case and 2x120 to the left (blocked by the mobo ) , I am talking about the right 120 FAN opening check if it can take the 120 closed loops water coolers ... like the H80i or Nzext Kraken .

if you havent bought the CPU I would recommend a 65 WATTS one if you cant go the water closed loop. there are many good options .

like the i5-4670S , and the i7-4770S , both work at 65 watts and easier to cool in such closed spaces .. there are 55,45,35 watts but slower.

you need to check 2 things , 1- the spacing around the right fan , 2- the length of the hose of the water cooler so it reaches the right opening.

if you can check it at a store near you the better , I can look at measurement here online but it can have mistakes ...

It might be able to work with water cooling, but it's not a guarantee. Is the i5-4570 really going to produce so much heat as to require water cooling? I have no desire to overclock, and I've seen plenty of builds that use a non-water based cooler.

I'm more concerned about what air cooler from the list above would be best. Any help would be much appreciated.
