I have 3 samsung s24c230l monitors that I plan to run in eyefinity with my xfx 7870 graphics card. So to do so I have 2 DVI ports plugged in (For two monitors) and for the third I purchased an active display port to dvi adapter. However, I (Stupidly, may I add) didn't realize that my card only had MINI display ports. To solve this issue, I purchased a mini male display port to female display port adapter. So now it is the mini dport to full dport adapter, plugged into the active dport to dvi adapter, plugged into my 3rd monitor.

Now Here is the main issue: it's not working. I plugged in the third monitor and I did not receive a windows "plugged something in" sound. I have tried all three monitors on both ports with no success. I also tried a mac laptop and that too did not work with either of the monitors.

Could the issue be the active adapter? Or is the issue the secondary adapter? Could it be since I bought an active adapter for full size display port that it isn't receiving enough power?

This is what the setup looks like in terms of adapters: http://imgur.com/IsCtNsz

The one weird thing was that it worked for one time, but the display was only recognized as 640x480, and the monitor wasn't even showing anything. I'm thinking about buying this to solve my issue, but I want to be sure that there is nothing I can do before buying this.

Edit: Another weird thing was the male mini dport to female dport had this white residue in the female dport plug. I couldn't remove it with rubbing alcohol and it seemed to get on the male dport of the active adapter: http://imgur.com/WzL968y&SndaHkh#0
