Self explanatory title is self explanatory. I was doing some research on benchmarks and what not, and came across a commentor of whom said that the 660ti SLI setup is restrained by its memory, or something in that ballpark, therefore not providing a signifigantly increased performance, or any performance at all.

I recall reading/hearing this elsewhere aswell. And given my track record of dicking things up in the hardware department, I just wanted to make sure.

That been said, If I were to get another 660ti [current card], and throwing an SLI config. into the mix, would there be a signifigant change in performance, or would it be useless?

Motherboard compatability/CPU Bottleneck,etc is irellevant.

And if said configuration is effective, should I roll with it or wait get a 780/7990?

Those compatibilty issues may be rare to some people and if do get the 2nd card, in "some" situations it will perform between a 680 and a 690 but also there is microstutter but can be effectivley eliminated by useing v-sinyc and triple buffering. Make sure your powersupply is up for it though.
