Hello there.
I'm currently shopping around for a Graphics card to power my single 1920x1080 monitor and games at a decent setting. I'm planning to play Crysis 3, Battlefield 4, Blacklight: Retribution and Titanfall predominantly. I do plan in the future to maybe step it up and get one more monitor for work and designing.

I've looked at cards such as the Galaxy GTX 760 and the Powercolor 7950 Boost State V5 but I'm still a little stumped at to what I should get. So, well that's why I'm here :)  I do want to run games at a nice setting with playable FPS. I do mind my eyecandy, but not at the expense of sharp FPS drops! I do also want to record game play at some time, if that matters :D

My budget range is around $300 AUD maximum and I use www.pccasegear.com to order my parts! (Cheapest/widest range in Australia)

This is a build in progress, so at the moment I only have 3 parts...
Thermaltake 700W Litepower
MSI Z87M-G43 - (Probably going to get the i5-4670K when I can)
Antec One Hundred Case

So, any questions, be sure to ask! I'm not a tied to any brand so shoot away! And thanks to everyone that puts their two cents in!

At the 300-350 price range, I'd get MSI's gaming gtx 760. Outperforms the 7950 and is cheaper. Don't get powercolor cards, they have nice prices, but consistently get poor reviews. The gtx 760 will max pretty much everything on high-ultra quality at 1080p. And you could use SLI in the future if you ever ran into issues. That being said, I'd upgrade to a corsair hx 750w as your psu. 80+ gold certified and plenty of power for an sli config.

I'd love to get an actual 80+ PSU, but I'm just not in the financial position to swap out a PSU, that I haven't even used at the moment. I got it as a gift, so, I'll go with it for the moment :D

Hmm Poor reviews on the Powercolor cards? What do you mean by that? Errors? Just not working that well?

I just mean that powercolor cards consistently have poor reviews compared to other cards made by other manufacturers. For example, powercolor's 7970 vs. sapphire's 7970 has much worse reviews: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
Problems vary from card to card, but a fair amount of people ran into fan failure and complete death of the card within the first couple months. Enough so that I decided not to go powercolor when buying my card. :p  Your psu is fine btw, just might not be ideal for sli. Again, msi's 760 all the way.

Do you believe that the MSI 760 is better then all the others here: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPa... ?

Also, do you think the 760 will hold its performance for a few years? I know sooner or later I'll have to upgrade, but the longer I have to wait is better :p  Thanks for the help so far!

For sure, MSI's card has a higher clock speed then the rest of those cards and will cool better. It will probably hold performance for another 2-3 years, before you start needing sli. Overclocking is also an option with this card. So yes, it stacks up very well compared to the rest.

I'm also a little concerned about size of the card and how small my Board is. The PCIe 3.0 Slot seems like its too close to the ram and the card will be impede. Can I get some input on that thanks :D  I want it to clear it :3

Use this:

Is this what you were referencing?:

One reviewer mentioned the PCIe x16 slotted large GPUs hitting the DIMMS, as long as one's GPU doesnt have a backplate or excessive piping in the last 1-1.5", it should be fine. My EVGA gtx 660 reference card fits, but does touch the tip of the first DIMM's clip.

This does scare me a little, and I only noticed it after I purchased the board. If need totally be, I'll slot it into PCIe 2.0... or I could shave some of the clips XD. I am getting low profile Corsair Vengeance RAM.

Also, just back on the issue of 7950 v 760. Is the difference majorly obvious? I'd love to get 4 premium titles...

760 all the way. It is a beast card which is better than the 7950. You should definitely get the 760 if your budget allows.

But, how much better? the 7950 and 760 are very similar (In price) here in Oostrahya (Australia XD). If its only 2-5% performance difference, its not really going to persuade me. The 7950, if close, plus the games, at that price seems so enticing!

What are those major factors over the 7950? PhysX isn't too big to me, but I guess is cool. Show me your thinking! :D  Thanks in advance!

Here in the states, the 760 is much cheaper than the 7950, making it a no brainer. In this review, you can see that the 760 outperforms the 7950 most of the time, but occasionally does not: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-760-rev...
With that being said, you probably won't notice a difference purchasing either card. If they are the same price, go with the 760. If they are the same price AND the 7950 comes bundled with games, then that's a great choice to.

I think I'm glued to an EVGA 760! I'm trying to stick as close to 300 as I can, and I'm a little bit biased to the aesthetics ahahaha. Thank you for all the help! Probably lastly does the 760 OC well?

;___; how do I select a top answer...

Yes, the 760 is a pretty good overclocker. To select the best answer, there should be a a little tab on the bottom right of each comment that says "pick as solution" or something like that.
