I was told elsewhere today that there's no point buying parts now since next month there will be new GPUs out that will make anything I'd buy now useless. Not useless but not as useful and less long-lasting as those out next month.
I can only really spent roughly £100 on a GPU.. should I wait?

Nothing new in a month, latest nvidia GPU is out gtx 700 series. For Radeon, I don't know. But, You can go forward, nothing new in Graphism (Directx or OpenGL) and the difference between DirectX 11 and DirectX 11.1 is not noticable. So You can buy now, If you wait, you will only have maybe a little price drop. But for 100$, You will have only a low end card. You can go at least with gtx 650 .
