Computer architecture etc..... is in the domain of electrical engineering. Purists would say it belongs in computer engineering or computer science. If you focus merely on computer architecture, you limit your prospects (unless you couple the education with relevant internships). There are far more jobs for general electrical engineering than specifically computer architecture. If you do have your heart set on computer architecture, be sure to select a good school (i.e. one with a couple of computer architecture courses) and do some relevant internships (even if you plan to go to grad school). Computer architecture also goes hand in hand with computer science, discrete math, etc.... You should go to the college and talk to an instructor who teaches computer architecture and seek advice of grad students who work in this field. Intel has a strong presence in CR so you should be able to find someone who can help you out
