Hello, what is the best 23-24" 1920x1080 monitor? I will use it exclusively for work but in a year's time I will use it for gaming as well.

Budget's not an issue, I want the best of the best for my needs. I was looking at the Asus VS247H-P or maybe one of the Dell Ultrasharp although it seems the latter lacks an HDMI port which I would like to have, unless a DVI to HDMI converter will produce the same quality of HDMI-HDMI.

Thank you.

If budget is not an issue, i would definitively buy the BenQ XL2420T.
It has a nice 120Hz refresh rate and 2 ms response time. (its good for your eyes, trust me)
I dream with this monitor every day, but, since i live in Paraguay i can't afford to pay an extra 150 $ for the shipping weight to import.
Sorry for my horrible English

The BenQ XL2411T is also an option, the 20 is from 2011, the 11t from 2012 I believe, however with some minor differences. Both these monitors have to be calibrated ofc to the best possbile, you can find reviews with calibrated settings. A 120 Hz is indeed a different level for gaming, even work. However if your main focus is work a "normal" 60 Hz monitor should suffice you and you save some bucks... its your call :)

Let's say I make a step backwards and ignore the gaming side, for now. In that case, so just for work, what would be the best choice? I do a lot of surfing, Photoshop and Office work.

Have to decide highest priority.
For work I'd go with the 1920 x 1200 Res.
.. This is a 16:10 Monitor so LARGER screen than a 24" 1920 X 1080 which is 16:9.
.. Higher PPI
.. Uses a LED-PLS Panel - Much better than TN
..... Bottom line is that it will look MUCH better (Sharper/clearer) than a 1920 x 1080.
Only con (for gaming) is it only goes up to 75Hz vertical scan and is a 5 ms: Panel BUT depending on gaming needs, while it May NOT be the Best gaming monitor have a feeling it will meet your needs), and price - Retail $450.
As A reference, LED-PLS panel

PS: I had a 24" samsung 1920 x 1200 LED-TN monitor/HDTV - It was fantasic as a Monitor, Liked t better than my 27" 1920 x 1080 Monitor.

$430 @ Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001742&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleKWLess&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleKWLess-_-Monitors%20-%20LCD%20Flat%20Panel-_-SAMSUNG-_-24001742&gclid=CK77usKe-LgCFZA-MgodMmQAKg&gclid=CK77usKe-LgCFZA-MgodMmQAKg
NOTE: NO HDMI, However does have Displayport (better than HDMI) + DVI (Only disadvantage od DVI over HDMI is No audio carried thru).

My current monitor: Asus 27" PLS (Realy a Samsung PLS panel) 2560 x 1400 - Love it.

Apologies, should have said it before; I will hook the monitor to a laptop which can't go higher than 1920x1080. Would you still recommend the Samsung?
