I had bought the Thinkcentre A55, when I had started working. That was 5 years back. Now PC gaming has lured me into it. I was using cost cutting methods and so didn't want to buy a new PC tower. I bought all my required specs (mentioned below). But when I went to a PC shop to get my HiPro 250W power supply removed and get a new one, the technician said it is a non standard PSU. So no aftermarket PSU can be installed into the case. I just wanted to know if using the PSU outside of my PC will harm any part of my PC or PSU in any way? Please note that the area where my PC is kept has good airflow.

P.S. Do tell me the wattage of the PSU you think I should get to run the following specs:

1. i5 3570k CPU.
2. Asus z77 Sabretooth Motherboard
3. Asus DCU2 HD7850 GPU.
