Hi all i am thinking of upgrading my 13" macbook pro mid 2012 500 HDD drive to an SSD i mainly use my laptop for music , photos watching online movies
switching between software programs , Graphic / web design & video editing
i need to know if it would be worth my while upgrading to SSD & what are the advantages & disadvantages with SSD?
i was looking at a Samsung 840 Series 250GB 2.5 inch SATA Solid State Drive
could anyone advice me if this particular SSD is a good one to go for & how long do SSD generally last ?
Thanks in advance

SSD's benefit is faster reading and writing than a mechanical hard drive. This you will notice in the time it takes to load software, the OS, video editing... Theres no real boost from it in web surfing, music listening, or watching videos/pics.

SSD's also have higher 'drop' tolerance. If you drop your laptop theres 2 things likely to break. The mechanical HDD and/or the screen. An SSD would be unlikely to break thanks to no moving parts.

SSD makes your system much more responsive, every needed HDD access is much faster. Your system feels much faster.
The only disadvantage is the price per GB ;)
