Hello, i'm building my first computer.
Im wondering if everything is compatible and if things will work OK and if the different components will take full advantage of each other.
For example, will the graphics card only run on half of its full capacity because the monitor only can support a resolution that high?
Plz give me your opinion on it. It will be used for gaming and school work, web browsing, YouTube and sometimes I will be watching videos.
If you have any suggestions or recommendations for any of the parts please leave them below.
The only part I’m unsure about is the graphics card.
HOW MUCH SHOULD I USE ON A GRAPHICS CARD?
If you have any recommendations for any of the parts or know of a part that will fit perfectly with this build, you can recommend parts with a higher price than the price limit of the component.
My budget is around 2000$. Remember, that all the parts will not be bought from Newegg, so the prices of the parts linked under, may not be the price that i will be buying the part for.

Here are some other parts i wonder if i should buy. Plz give tips:

A cpu HSF or liquid cooling: I have been looking at these:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspxItem=N82E1683...
Be quiet ! Dark rock advanced cpu cooler. can be found on Amazon.com
But i dont know much about HSF and liquid coolers, so leave suggestions in the comments. I maybe dont even need aftermarket cooling sence i wont be overclocking, but i want the components to last long and i want it to be quiet.

Case fans for obsidian 650d: I have been looking at this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
But again i dont know much about fans so leave suggestions in comments. The corsair obsidian 650d needs 2 200mm fans and 1 120mm fan. (i think)

Sound card: I have been looking at these:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
Asus xonar DSX PCIe 7.1 GX2.5 audio engine 192k/24bit playback support sound cards. This can be found on Amazon.com
Dont know much about sound cards so leave suggestions below.

Wireless adapter: i have been looking at this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx
Item=N82E16833704133&Tpk=TP-LINK%20TL-WDN4800
Leave suggestions below.

feel free to leave ANY recommendations below.

You most likely do not need a sound card, and the mobo audio will be sufficient.

750W is enough for the PSU.

I would go with the 770, though you don't need the 4 GB for 1080p. Just get the 2 GB version. Though, this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... is a very good deal. I have the same card. It's fantastic and overclocks well (not 100% guaranteed yours will, though, the chances yours will, too, are pretty good).

As for the CPU cooler, you will need one if you plan to overclock. The one I recommend depends on how high of an overclock you want to achieve.

Or should i go with this graphics card?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
do you think it will fit in trhe corsair obsidian 650d? the reviews said it is very big...
Oh and, is a card with pcie 3.0 much slower than a card with pcie 3.0 x16?
And can a card with directx 11 work on windows 8, and in that case, which feuters will i loose for directx 11.1?
and something i have noticed is that different websites give differnet specs. For example: On tiger direct this card has pcie 3.0 x16 but on newegg it has pcie 3.0 why is that?
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/ite...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
and this card looks pretty sweet but is it pcie 3.0 or 3.0 x16?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
August 14, 2013 7:17:27 AM

They're all PCIe 3.0 x16. It's implied that they are "x16" because of the actual PCIe connector on the card, so some sites don't even mention it.

I seriously recommend the card I posted (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...). At that price, it is too good to pass up.

DirectX 11 works with Windows Vista/7/8.
August 14, 2013 8:35:30 AM

yeah that card looks really good, but about pcie. why can you on newegg sort between pcie 3.0 and pcie 3.0 x16 if they are the same?
August 15, 2013 7:00:29 AM

Because they aren't consistent with their sorting. You shouldn't base anything off of a website's sorting methods.

OK thanks

I have found two cards, but i cant decide which to choose. The first one is the one ihog recomended
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
and the second one is a HIS card
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
The one ihog recommended has 4096 x 2160 on both hdmi and on display port, has more steam processors and both the core and boost clock is higher, but does not have directx 11.1 and is 60$ more expensive.
the his card only has 4096 x 2160 on the displayport, but it has directx 11.1 and is 60$ cheaper.
Thay have different effective memory clocks, but i dont know what that is.
the sapphire card also 2 dvi (single and dual link, which i dont know what is) over the HIS which only has one DVI.
Which should i choose???????
August 16, 2013 4:21:43 AM

Now im sure i will choose the 7970 (just hope i get the 3 games, because some people said they didnt get them). But choosing this card have made me wonder if i should choose the asus vg248qe monitor. It says that the monitors recommended resolution is 1920 x 1080, does that mean that the cards resolution just will be wasted? And will the monitor be able to use eyefinety (not that i will use it, but maybe i want to upgrade some time)? And will the monitor support the HD3D? The monitor only "talks" about nvidia not AMD. Will it support the card fully?
And the asus sabertooth z87 motherboard is crossfiire ready, right?
Anything else that wont run at its full potensial?
Here are the links:

The games may or may not be available. The promotion stopped, I believe, and now they are just getting rid of the extra codes.

No, the graphics card may be able to output a higher resolution, but that means nothing. But, I do have another question: what frames per second to you plan to play at? If you want to play at ultra settings and 144 FPS, then you should get a better card.

Are you planning on using 3D? If not, don't worry about the "nVidia 3D" stuff.

The Sabertooth is Crossfire ready.
August 17, 2013 2:35:33 AM

I dont know much about FPS and that stuff, but i think i have heard that 60 FPS is normal, so 60+ FPS on high settings.
At least so it runs smooth. I rather want bad graphics and smooth gameplay, than good graphics and "unsmooth" (dont know the word for it, i'm not english) gameplay.
But if i buy another one of these cards and set up crossfire, will i be able to run at ultra high settings and get 144 FPS?
I dont think i will be using 3D, at least not at first.
August 17, 2013 8:42:06 AM

i just found out that newegg only ships to the US, and i live in Norway, and stuff here is so expencive. :(  DAMN!!!!!!!!! The card you recommended is only 309,99$ on newegg. on other sites it is around 400$. i will maybe use a parcel forwarder.
August 19, 2013 12:45:51 PM

I just read a review on newegg that said that the sapphire radeon hd 7970 is 3-slots wide. is that true?
August 21, 2013 9:20:28 AM

No, it's only 2 slots. And if you only want to game at 60 FPS at the moment, everything is fine.
August 21, 2013 1:39:25 PM

Ok thanks
