Should I Upgrade or Scrap This Build?

I have a PC I built on a budget and hand me down parts. The performance is good, I can run almost any game maxed out at 60 frames per second. My CPU is an AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE at 4ghz turbo. My GPU is an AMD MSI Radeon 7850 Twin Frozr III OC. I have 4GB of Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz RAM.

I got the 7850 about three weeks ago. I noticed in Grand Theft Auto IV, how I usually got around 20 frames per second with the GTX 260 I had before the 7850, I was now only getting about 30 frames per second with a much more powerful card. I saw other people on Youtube running it at 50 frames per second no problem, but they had other CPUs, like the FX-6300, or the i5-3570k. So now I know my CPU is getting old and won't be too good in the future

Since my motherboard is AM3+, I was wondering if it would be worth it to upgrade to an FX-6300 for $120, or maybe save for an FX-8350. Or maybe I should just keep saving my money until I can build a computer I would be fully satisfied with. I would LIKE an Intel i5-3570k, an MSI GTX 760 Twin Frozr III and 8GB of G.Skill Ripjaws RAM, but it's going to cost around $1,000 for those parts with a good case, a decent Z77 motherboard, a new hard drive, etc....

So, what do you think I should do?
