Hey guys, I was hoping that you all would be able to help give some insight on a new build my friend and I have been working on for him. He was looking for a build where he would be able to use for up to fairly heaving gaming plus being able to render videos fairly well. This is what I ended up coming up for him:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($199.99 @ Microcenter)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus 76.8 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($19.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: Asus Z87-A ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($144.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($60.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($85.98 @ Outlet PC)
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 3GB Video Card ($219.99 @ Newegg)
Case: Apevia X-Trooper (Black/Green) ATX Mid Tower Case ($68.98 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Corsair CX 600W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V Power Supply ($57.99 @ Microcenter)
Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer ($17.98 @ Outlet PC)
Total: $876.88

This isn't the first build that I've worked on, but some summer sales expiring soon have forced me to rush some of these decisions out, so any insight on the build would be appreciated (especially on the mobo and psu).

Thanks!

If your not worried about fast boot times and fast application loading times then don't bother with an SSD, but if you are, then get one :)

Chances are, I'm going to keep the case that he picked out because it's about the only thing that he's been able to choose for the entire build, and it looks like a decent case so I have no reason to replace it, but thanks for the thought. Also regarding the memory, I didn't know that people bought from GeIL, but then again it's been about two years since I've built, so I'm behind on literally everything regarding this stuff. Last thing, the PSU looks nice, but we were originally looking for a modular PSU, are there any other modular PSUs that you know about that I could look at? Oh, and do you think that 550W will be okay? I always liked to go way over the actual required amount needed (most of the time a little over double) and there may or may not be overclocking in the future for this machine. Thanks!

So do you think that the XFX that you linked will be able to handle the build, even with possible overclocking in the future?

If its a CX600M your completely fine:

Modularity is really a user preference if they like nice and easy cable management or not.

Ah, but then the CX750M is the same price... And I know that I don't need a 750W PSU. So... XFX? I don't know if I want to pay $40 for modularity, as TheBigTroll said, you don't really need modularity, especially at such a low wattage. So, would the XFX cut it, even with overclocking?

Yes, definetely :)
