Looking to upgrade graphics card in old gaming PC

I bought my current PC about 3 years ago and have had a bit of trouble with the graphics card in it as it runs quite hot, I was not aware 89C was a bit toasty while under load, my fault for not catching on sooner and getting it replaced, so I am coming to you guys as you seem like the best people to ask.

I would like to upgrade my graphics card, I think the rest of my PC will stand up.

My Specs are:
CPU: i7 2.8ghz @ 860 Quad
Memory: 8gb
GFX: EVGA GTX285 1GB
Mobo: Asus P7H57D-V Evo
PSU: 850watts
I have a huge Lian Li case with lots of cooling.

I want to be able to play upcoming games like bf4 etc without issues but I am looking for something in the reasonable price range of about $400 AUD.

I am a bit skeptical and feel out of my depth because of my bad experience with this EVGA card, what cards do you think I can/should upgrade to and if so what other components should I upgrade.

Hey mate the card looks nice but it runs at about $600 here in AUS so its out of my price range, thanks though!

You won't be able to run BF4 with everything maxed out with anything lower than that. I might suggest you something a bit lower for high settings.

From what im seeing the gtx 760 or the 7970 would be the card for you at 1080p if thats your resolution

Oh ok either card work for your budget since you dont wanna go the gtx 770 route. Another option is waiting for the ati 9000 series to release in a month or so maybe something around the same price range your looking might out point the 760/7970 as well so you do have different options to go for.
