Fellas, you did a marvelous job back in the Summer of '07 in helping me out step by step on what parts to purchase and how to slam this machine together. This beast held out great against the test of time, however its starting to become rather outdated and cant hang with the games coming out these days.

Which leads me to this post..Whether its even worth it to use any of the parts I have or to simply say screw it trash what I have and go big.

Heres a list of my current components:

1 x SAMSUNG 18X DVD±R DVD Burner with LightScribe Black SATA Model SH-S183L LightScribe Support - OEM

1 x Antec Performance One P180B Black 0.8mm (Absolutely Mutilated)

1 x Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor BX80557E6600

1 x EVGA 640-P2-N821-AR GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB 320-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

1 x ABIT IP35 Pro LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard

1 x CORSAIR HX Series CMPSU-620HX 620W ATX12V v2.2 and EPS12V 2.91 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified

1 x Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model

1 x Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme CPU Heatsink

OLD Hard Drive crashed and replaced it, and think I have a WD 350 GB one now..

Recently went out and bought a new Monitor, plan on picking up a new keyboard, and mouse. Also have a copy of Windows 7.

Honestly, been out of the loop for a while now and have no idea whats what these days. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mike

the psu and optical drive are perfectly fine and can be reused. also note in this build, i am assuming you are going to overclock the CPU. as for the GPU, it is currently the best bang for the buck. if you want something more powerful, the gtx 770 and 780 are out there for you

if you have not checked out the humble bundle for games, id suggest you take a look. pay as much as you want for the games as the money goes towards charity. they are offered in steam and in origin and they wil give you both the codes
