im wondering what CAS latency means for RAM im looking at two G skill ripjaws Z series 8x8 models one has a CAS latency of 11 and the other 10 is it better to have a lower number or higher please email me at shadowaries33@yahoo.com

CAS Latency (or CL or “access time”) tells us how many clock cycles the memory module will delay in returning a data requested by the CPU. A memory module with a CL 4 will delay four clock cycles to deliver a requested data, whereas a memory module with a CL 3 will delay three clock cycles to deliver it. While both modules may run at the same clock rate, the second one will be faster, as it will deliver data sooner than the first one. This issue is known as “latency”.

Are you looking for 64GB of memory? Well, you are more likely to use only 16GB or 32GB at max and the rest will be unused unless you are planning for VMs. CL10 is what I'd recommend but depends on the memory speed. If it is below 2133MHz then CL10 else depends on the frequency of the memory. Good luck!!
