Hi, at the moment for the next 3 days i can get a HD7970 for £250 this is £100 less than it was originally going for, my problem is that i am on a tight buget of £250 and i know the new HD9000 series is coming soon, i need advice on should i wait for the new series of cards or should i take the offer of the HD7970.

Thanks in advance :)

7970 :-). Just because something comes out, doesnt mean you should get it asap. I'm pretty sure the 9000 cards will be more than 350£. I'd wait until some months have passed and see some discounts on the 9000 series.

Why people saying buy the 7970 now? At this close time . of amd dropping the 9000 series i would wait because if you was to buy the 7970 and then see the 8970 release and it beats the 7970 at the same price or close your going to have that itch to return the gpu if your in that time window and get the newer card this happens alot so save your self the trouble and just wait and even if its a bit more save up some you wont regret it but thats just me. Sure the 7970 is a great card but i just couldnt go knowing i can get a better amd in the next month or so

If your current rig is REALLY struggling and games are a trial rather than fun, then get an upgraded card-don't kick yourself because a better one comes out in a few months, it happens, we've all had it happen to us, just be happy you got a brilliant deal on the day, because that's all you can do.
Even if it's not struggling I'll still advise you to get a new card now, it'll take several months for availability and prices to sort themselves out once the 9xxx are released, and it's unlikely AMD will slash their prices either in the build up to the launch or shortly thereafter, take a look at the GTX6xx pricing: it's been some months since the 7xx were launched and only now are we seeing the old 6xx stock being discounted...And some E-tailers are discounting quite heavily: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?catid=191.... Also check: Scan, Aria, Dabs, Novatech, CCL, Ebuyer, Pixmania and the ever popular Amazon.
The HD7950 linked by getochkn has a crap cooler BTW, even the XFX DD cooler (like mine) isn't that good and a single fan cooler simply can't cope with the HD7950/70s' heat output.

I would like a new graphics card by the time battlefield 4 comes out so i can play it on decent settings, so waiting a few months after the 9000 series has been released isn't really an option.

Your missing the point though, the 7970 is onsale for over £100 less that it was when sold originally for like £350, thus meaning that i would only be able to get a 9870 or maybe 9850 for my buget of £250 on the 9000 release.

I say dont even buy amd they have bad performance and quality go with the NVIDIA GTX 760 or 770 its around your budget and also better, but if 7970 or 9000 i say 7970 its not worth getting the 9000 its to expensive and barley any diffrence

I can see why you have no badges. You don't know Jack. I have the same crossfire setup as corvetteguy and I have no problems either. You never buy AMD so you know nothing about them, just what some whacko has told you.

To the OP: I don't know what on earth you're thinking or why this thread even still exists but there is no HD 9000 series and the HD 8000 series was OEM rebrands. This whole thread is pointless.
