I was playing a game last when the screen suddenly turned pitch black. The computer didn't appear to be frozen because the audio kept on playing just fine. I restarted the computer and since then, after the Windows logo and before the desktop loads I either get just a black screen or a BSOD:

Now I can boot into safe mode just fine. I scanned for viruses and tested my memory and everything came back 100% perfect. I uninstalled the GPU drivers, and restarted and I could boot into Windows normally. But once I install any drivers for the GPU I once again can no longer boot to the desktop normally without a black screen or the BSOD after the Windows logo.
Does this mean my GPU is just fried? Time to place an order on Newegg?
