Would an 800w psu still run efficiently if used to power one geforce gtx 670 card?

The PSU's fan would only be running slower, thus it would be less noisy. It would run fine, don't worry about that.

When we ordered the geforce gtx 670 card we also ordered a corsair 800w psu that was well above the min requirement because we wanted to future proof it to some extent and not have a psu permanently running at full capacity when gaming - but then got a bit worried when we read a few more articles about only using x% of the psu power, and the psu then running inefficiently or stopping due to under utilisation - so just wanted to check.

You can buy a fat 1500W power supply and run it on a PC that doesn't have a graphics card, and it would work, that would just be a total waste of money though.
