Nvidia vs. 2 AMD's

I am looking to upgrade my system's video performance. I have two questions. On a one monitor set up, would a Nvidia GTX 780 outperform 2 Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 Video Cards - 3GB GDDR5? And the same question but for two monitors.

Also, would Crossfire work and share the load for the two AMD's?

I am new to multiple video cards so detailed responses would be appreciated if applicable.

Gtx 780 is faster than HD7950

2 gtx 780 will outperform 2 HD7950

1 gtx 780 is BETTER than 2 7950 crossfire X

I recommend you to get Gtx 780

An ACX 780 (or similar custom model) will be about as fast as a pair of 7950s, but will have none of the multi-GPU issues. It's obviously not as good a value, but I think it would be the better option for most people if it's in the budget.

ACX is cooler from EVGA for graphics cards
