I'm buying this computer: http://www.ebay.com/itm/DELL-GAMING-COMPUTER-DUAL-CORE-...

It's has a great price and the specs, VERY surprisingly, are somewhat good. (At least to me) I've looked over the hardware several times and I don't see why it shouldn't be a decent gaming computer on Mid to High quality settings for games like Skyrim and upcoming TESO. (Maybe with a few small upgrades like more RAM) I'm well educated when it comes to computers, but am I being duped or assuming too much? If so why? Thank you and have a nice day! :)

I'm not to worried about memory space, and I thought the graphics card wasn't very good as well. But should it still be able to run the games that I mentioned pretty well? How off do you think the price is?

3 years ago, I bought a similar level system for $50 from some dude on craigslist. Last year, I found a similar system (fully working) out on the curb for the trashman.

They are asking to much $$, and you are expecting too much performance.

What kind of performance could I expect?

The video card is the weak link here.
That was an entry level card 6 years ago. http://www.computershopper.com/reviews/ati-radeon-hd-24...

"The HD 2400 XT turned in fairly dismal results on our standard 3D tests, clocking just 15 frames per second (fps) at 1,280x1,024 in F.E.A.R."

"...and you're not planning on running a pair of 24-inch-plus monitors or doing much gaming..."

Can you put a different card in it? Probably. But then you'd probably also have to replace the PSU.
Then the Pentium D becomes the weak link. And a power hungry weak link at that.

That system is crap for a game like Skyrim. If skyrim even runs it would be low/very low settings on a low resolution. The video cards vram doesnt meet the minimum requirement of 512mb of vram, and the cpu's not the great either. To have a decent playing experience you should always go for the recommended specs.

IMHO its a complete waste of $140. I have seen better system on my local craigslist for about the same price.

Okay guys, thank you. I feel dumb for expecting this computer to run so well. I didn't realize the graphics card was so bad and the processor turned out worse than I thought to... So, for little over a $300 budget does anyone have any suggestions for a computer or good part choices to piece together?
