I'm investing in a new laptop (Asus - ZENBOOK Prime 13.3" Laptop - 4GB Memory - 320GB Hard Drive) for college and I'm desperately trying to find a virus protection that won't completely bogg it down. I know they will all have an effect, some more than others, but which slows down a computer the least? I value any and all experience. Thank you in advance!

Do you have windows 8? If you do just use the build in windows defender. It works very well and is very discreet. If you use windows 7, use avast or windows security essentials. I like WSE because it is very lightweight and you never see it unless you want to, but many might disagree! Hope this helps.

I have windows 7. I'll give WSE a try, then. Thank you!

Some of the lightest antivirus (free and paid) is listed below:
• Bitdefender
• Immunet Plus Antivirus
• Comodo
• Panda
• Kaspersky
• Norton
• Microsoft Security Essential
• AVG
• Avira, etc.

It's a good thing that this thread is over a week old and probably sorted by now - otherwise someone might have fallen for your suggestion that Norton is a lightweight anti-virus and taken it seriously. :D
