'1 over 2' monitor set up question

I would like to use my older monitor (19" LG W1952TQ) as a ' throw away monitor ' in my set up.

Normally, this would simple as I would buy a monitor stand that would allow me to do such.

The problem is that this monitor is not VESA compliant and there is no way that i would be able to mount it onto a stand.

Has anyone encountered this problem before?

Thanks!

Solution
Depends on whatever VESA mount the stand uses, the defacto standard is 100x100mm though 75x75mm is common.
You can get cheap VESA adapters which you can use as a template.
You'l probably need to mod it in some fashion to get it mounted.
See if you can take the back panel off, drill your own VESA mounts and put a metal plate on the inside (with holes drilled through it as well) to distribute the weight. Then put it on your monitor stand.

Goes without saying, you will lose warranty support and there is always a chance something will go wrong and you end up with dead monitor.

Not worried about warrenty as the monitor is 8+ years old :-D.

How far apart should the mounting holes be?

Should I do this when I get a stand, and use the mounting plate for reference?
