Hi. I own a Gateway laptop. Nv57H13u. It had 640 WD Blue HDD that died. It's well out of warranty.

I bought a WD 500 Blue HDD to replace along with a copy of Windows 8 OEM at Microcenter to install on the HDD. I install the HDD and it is recognised in the BIOS. Proper boot order and also tried F12 Boot Select. No luck. I keep getting the whole Press Any Key, No bootable drive.

If I remove the hard.drive and turn the laptop on without the HDD, it'll boot. And the Windows 8 disc without a problem... I thought about being sly and inserting the HDD once Windows 8 boots from the disc so I can install it, it shuts off and restarts. Same No bootable.device...

I can't progress while the HDD is in. It works on another system fine and is recognized. What's going on?
