hey I'm building my first pc soon and I was wondering which of these GPU cards would be the best to use. considering overall performance, certain advantages for each card, power consumption, and 'bang for buck'. these are the two and it would be a great help to me.

Well, both cards are great and perform almost the same, AMD better on some games, GTX on other, it depends on what you are going to play.
7870 consumes less power and heats less too, but it's more expensive.
Here you can check some bechmarks http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/857?vs=860

Personally I would recommend the GTX 660ti because of its overclocking, you can easily overclock it to get the near the same performance as a stock GTX 670.

Awesome definitely go with the MSI if you want to overclock as I have used that card and you can do some serious overclocking with the ability to change the core voltage.

Sorry I don't know what your price range is but I just got a GTX 760 that has replaced the GTX 660ti in terms of performance.

It overclocks great and is silent for about the same price as a GTX 660ti.

And to answer your question yes you can keep the overclock and overclock the both as long as you have a good enough power supply.

Since they are almost the same price I would recommend the newer 760 but if you want to save a few dollars you could go with the 660ti.

Of course 760, because you will get more driver updates, which will give you few percents more FPS almost everytime you update.

Yes that would be fine, personally I like the TX series more from corsair but that will work just fine.

The gigabyte is flatter because it is focusing on fans, The asus one is fatter because it has huge heat pipes that redistribute the heat, this makes the asus one a bit more quiet but a bit more fatter.[/quotemsg]

thanks I don't mind too much about the sound but the thinness would g well

It depends on your budget and what you expect to see in your gaming experience. I suggest the AMD though. Make sure you have some good cooling devices too, you'll need them if you're going to overclock the graphic card and even if you don't.
