I live live next to tiger direct and want to make my own computer. My budget is 500 and it will be used for gaming and school work. I was thinking about a fx 6300 with a gigabyte ga 78lmt, a gtx 650 ti boost, and kingston hyper x 1333 MHz(1x4gb), with no clue about case and cpu, i would like suggestions and help with choosing the rest of my components.

you cant really get a gaming rig for 500 dollars, and dont go for 1 memory module go for AT LEAST 2, because if 1 fails then you're screwed. Go for 4x2gb, minimum to run win 7 is 4, so if you 1 module fails.... ya. But you might want to save more... i mean ALOT more, you cant get much with $500. Go for at least $800 or so

While you are correct 500 is a bit low, using one module is still fine. Im running one 8gig card and it runs fine, if the ram fails you have to replace it anyway. Using 2 allows for dual channel but one is by no means bad.

yes, but 4gb x 1 is a bare minimum for win 7. You have 8gb. But again, if you only have 1 module and it fails then your pc will be rendered unusable until you get a new module.

then again, if you have a 32bit version, and only 1gb of ram, your computer will be less than useless for anything.

That is a different point, saying win 7 needs 4 gigs is too broad of a statement. Saying, for gaming windows 7 64 bit 4 gigs of ram is the lowest you should go, is the way it should be stated. Again, specifics.
